Apples can be green too. And yellow.

Never seen a blue apple though 🤔

Green and yellow will come out later and cost a few hundred dollars more. I think that's the plan.

It would be neat too if they created a finish that had the exact color, texture, and appearance of an apple peel.

I remember reading about Jony Ive was inspired by the color and translucency of jelly beans for the first iMac and he actually visited jelly bean factories to understand the process. That was such a good design, the colors were really lush and stunning in the sea of beige boxes.

I wish Apple would go back to that. The bare aluminum thing is getting tired and dated.

I'd like to get one and replace the motherboard with a Mac Mini and connect it to the built in CRT and stuff so you could use one with modern software.

Ugh. I associate those with that time back when MacOS was getting really into skeuomorphism and their "lickable" interface. It felt futuristic, but in a bad way. Like Willy Wonka went insane on the Enterprise holodeck.

I still can't believe the floppy disk is still the universal "save" icon. It made a lot of sense 20 years ago because back then you actually were saving to a floppy disk. But now we have a whole generation of people who have never used a 3.5" 1.44MB disk in their entire lives. I think the last time I myself used one was in like 2004 or so. I'd bet my life that 16bitch (RIP) has never touched one. A flash drive icon would be more appropriate except no one even uses those anymore and everything is in the cloud now.

And folders! In 2018 computers still have "folders" with a cutesy icon of a manila folder. You know, in case you haven't used a computer before and need a familiar analogy to help you with all these digital thingamabobs.
> and their "lickable" interface.
I thought the 3d glossy interface was so classy back then, it really set the trend for the early-mid 2000s when everything was glossy and 3d. Now it's the digital equivalent of bell bottom leisure suits.

It's like '80s pop music. It's so over the top but it takes itself SO seriously.

I wonder how many young people have never used a filing cabinet and will say "Oh, like on the computer!" upon seeing one.

> It's like '80s pop music. It's so over the top but it takes itself SO seriously.
It was music that really reveled in the fact that it pissed off old people. Looking back, the "In your FACE mom and dad!" nature of it looks a lot less rebellious and just comes off as silly.

What would you even call that? It's skeuomorphism come full circle. Using a digital representation of a physical object to explain the physical thing the digital thing is representing. Meta-skeuomorphism?

I thought Eminem was really edgy in 2000. I can't listen to him anymore because it reminds me of being in 6th grade and I cringe.

I don't know man. Culture sometimes wraps in on itself in a repeating loop of self-referential symbols that are hard to explain even to people who grew up with them. People looking back on it may lose the "obvious" meaning that seems second-nature to us. I think this is part of the reason that stories from the distant past often seem nonsensical to us.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barber%27s_pole#Use_in_prostitution

In South Korea, barber's poles are used both for actual barbershops and for brothels.[12] Brothels disguised as barbershops, referred to as 이발소 (ibalso) or 미용실 (miyongsil), are more likely to use two poles next to each other, often spinning in opposite directions, though the use of a single pole for the same reason is also quite common.[13] Actual barbershops, or 미용실 (miyongsil), are more likely to be hair salons; to avoid confusion, they will usually use a pole that shows a picture of a woman with flowing hair on it with the words hair salon written on the pole.
