Minichan

Topic: Worldbuild with me on Minichan!

Anonymous A started this discussion 1 week ago #69,148

I think it would be nifty if I created a fictional world using facts given by users. It would be similar to a role-playing thread but instead of a story it would be a universe/planet with worldbuilding. I do a "lot" of writing and worldbuilding, so we could discuss a world and I would continually update it in a document.

The first, most important things are Mass, Radius, Gravity and Density. If we know two of them, I can use an equation to calculate the other two, so start off by recommending any two of those.

Also, when expressing units, don't say "radius is x kilometers", say "radius is x times the radius of Earth", that way it's much easier to calculate.

The mass is at least 2000 lbs since the world includes Matt and meta.

Sounds good. And the radius, gravity or density?

Minichan is very dense, at least 12gm/cm3.

You're giving me a real headache with this, but I think I can do it. Just give me a minute.

Sorry, but with such a low mass the gravity the math here is too unstable. I need a bigger number, something in the range of 24-26 digits. I'll keep your density of 2.178x that of Earth, though.

C'mon guys, we just need radius, density or surface gravity!

The same radius as earth.

The world has a loophole where things can become other things just based on the object's name in another language. Like a gift can become poisonous if the giver wishes it because gift means poison in German.

Anonymous A (OP) replied with this 1 week ago, 4 minutes later, 36 minutes after the original post[^] [v] #838,125

Alright, here's what we've got so far:

Radius: 6378.1 kilometers (same as Earth)
Density: 12gm/cm^3 (2.178x Earth)
Mass: 2.868e10^25 (2.178x Earth)
Surface Gravity: 21.36 m/s^2 (2.178x Earth)

Also:

Circumference: 40,074 meters
Surface Area: 511.2 million square meters
Volume: 1,086,831,493 cubic kilometers.
Escape Velocity: Who cares! (this would take too much time to calculate)

It's very hard for a rocky planet to acquire three moons, let alone have it be stable. We need exactly one moon (zero would be bad for evolution).

There's only a few more things to calculate, so I'll need something real quick:

Is our star system singular or binary?

Anonymous B replied with this 1 week ago, 38 minutes later, 1 hour after the original post[^] [v] #838,132

@previous (A)
A binary star system but with a tertiary star that visits every 19 years.

Doesn't count, I'll extend it to 19 million years.
I could calculate a bunch of random math shit, but for now I think this is fine.

Anonymous A (OP) replied with this 1 week ago, 6 minutes later, 1 hour after the original post[^] [v] #838,144

@previous (B)
but why would it cause death if it comes often?

1. It initiates disturbance in the star's Oort Cloud, causing a hail of meteors
2. The orbit got messed and it'll mess up the planets' orbits a lot this time
3. The incredible brightness causes mass droughts

You choose the apocalypse.

4. The coming of third star is actually harmless, but triggers all manner of apocalypse predictions and panic in the population leading to wars and the breakdown of society as people disagree about the third star's purpose and effects on their lives.
