Topic: The "Rick & Morty" high IQ post was a copypasta?

I thought that was written by squeegee. Yet Pewdiepie referenced it. Who wrote it initially?

I almost believed it as true although it seems more fitting for a show like Doctor Who than Rick & Morty.

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Rick and Morty. The humour is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer’s head. There’s also Rick’s nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realise that they’re not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Rick & Morty truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn’t appreciate, for instance, the humour in Rick’s existential catchphrase “Wubba Lubba Dub Dub,” which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev’s Russian epic Fathers and Sons. I’m smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Dan Harmon’s genius wit unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools.. how I pity them. 😂

And yes, by the way, i DO have a Rick & Morty tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It’s for the ladies’ eyes only- and even then they have to demonstrate that they’re within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand. Nothin personnel kid 😎

Oh wow, so the emojis were actually apart of the copypasta. I found it on Reddit on /r/copypasta, but thank you for posting it in this thread for easy accessibility.

Because it looked like something you would write and I thought you liked Rick & Morty so it just made sense.

but if squeegee wrote it... it would be 5000 pages long.

See the joke is that the copypasta is sarcastic and the show is basically Family Guy meets Futurama. You can understand it with a room temperature IQ.

I do believe the nihilistic portions of it though since the show does seem pretty nihilistic. Even though it's really "new age" atheism or whatever the fuck the creator called it. No wonder why the copypasta felt more suited for Doctor Who. Also, what? This show is nothing like Family Guy.

I watched one episode of it, "Pickle Rick", and it felt very Family Guy-ish to me. I know it's not a Mike Judge anime like Family Guy but the humor seems similar.

I never saw the episode, but I get the feeling you picked one of the most memetastic episode to based the show on. Also, judging a show, any show, based on one episode is retarded.

first of all, i don't even know how to properly use one of these ; in a sentence. second of all, everything is properly capitalized and when have you ever heard me name drop russian literature? or use less than the correct number of ellipses...?

@821,958 (Catherine !TGirlYJKXM)
it's absurdism. it's not really nihilism. well the show isn't over so if it is touching on nihilism then i bet it ultimately serves as a rebuke of it. they're setting up characters to change drastically if they want, and they'll all eventually find meaning and find life to have value and that'll make their decisions important. but that doesn't mean that we don't live in a purposeless and chaotic world. like morty says, "nobody exists on purpose, nobody belongs anywhere, everybody's going to die." but that doesn't mean life can't have value and i think as the show develops the characters will grow and change. even rick. then these weirdo neckbeards that idolize rick's sociopathic behavior towards his families are going to feel like idiots when rick sacrifices all of his existences to save jerry, or some redemption arc like that. who knows, it's a cartoon with a neat story arc with really bizarre characters in absurd situations in a universe of infinite parallel dimensions. if it's nihilism i guess none of it will ever have any kind of point. so we'll see i guess.

@821,963 (Meta)
that's not the best one to start on really. it's kind of serialized, they make a lot of call backs to previous episodes which is where a lot of the humor is. previous episodes sometimes have a bearing on what's going on. that was also one of the more random and bizarre episodes. it would be best to watch from the beginning so you're not more confused than you should be. you're starting at a point where rick is basically a god, he had earlier struggles. several episodes had rick and morty hunting for some crazy material or substance or something in some strange dimension and rick will talk about imagining what he can do with this stuff and how powerful they can be, one episode was about a new battery rick developed that itself contained a small mini universe inside it and it had solved all his power needs. so definitely things change over time and there's a lot of themes that tie things together, but yeah i can see how it resembles family guy with the very random off the wall and bizarre situations like pickle rick. they even have a character named mr.poopy butthole i think it is. some of it is actually pretty stupid, and that makes it funny sometimes.

but i also get the sense that a lot of what makes it into the show is similar to adlibbed improv nonsense. there's this whole thing they do with television where they can watch tv from any dimension, and it sounds a lot like they got a mic and got real fucking high and just started talking and trying to say the most ridiculous and outlandish shit. like the guy who has ants on his eyes and is trying to be a salesman on tv and it sounds like the voice actor struggling for 30 seconds to be off-the-wall funny and it falls pretty flat, imo, but just reinforces the absurdity of the show if it's not actually funny. it's being wacky for the sake of being wacky.

it's adult swim isn't it? it's not much different than their other shows. i can absolutely see why more people aren't into it at all, but i don't really get the whole superfan thing and their meme sauce and their need to feel superior.

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand squeegee. His humour is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of his jokes will go over a typical Minichanner’s head. There’s also squeegee’s stoic outlook, which is deftly woven into his posts- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Stoic Sam topics, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of his jokes, to realise that he’s not just funny- squeegee says something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike squeegee truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn’t appreciate, for instance, the humour in squeegee’s existential stuffed cat meme, which itself is a cryptic reference to Final Retrospections. I’m smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as squeegee’s genius wit unfolds itself on their Minichan session. What fools.. how I pity them. 😂
