Topic: Why not annex Mexico?

Meta started this discussion 1 week ago #65,923

Mexicans want American citizenship
We need Mexican immigrants
It's cruel to deny American citizenship to Mexicans

So instead of Mexicans coming to America, why don't we just bring America to Mexico? Bring the 31 Mexican states into the US, dissolve the Mexican federal government and bring the former Mexican states under our federal law. Also demonetize the Mexican Peso and exchange it for dollars (like the Euro did with the old European currencies). Make America officially English-Spanish bilingual (like Canada is with French). Mexico could basically be our Quebec.

Trump can then build a border wall on the former Mexican southern border (new American southern border), to keep Guatemalans out.

Is there any good reason not to do this?

Also the Mexico-Guatemala border is only 541 miles long so a wall on that border would be a lot easier.

Also Mexicans would be granted natural born US citizenship retroactively, so they can immediately run for federal office and that kind of thing and any immigration-related criminal proceedings would be dismissed and pardoned.

Congressional representation would be equal too: two senators per state and representatives on a population basis, like we do now. Maybe with a provision in the treaty that no federal legislation impacting the former Mexican states can be passed until all the new congressional seats are filled.

What ya smoking Meta?

Crime rate in Mexico is not so much so good and paying dem the current minimum wage is not so much so smart when they are working for a fraction of such pay.

I'm just trying to work out a solution for this immigration thing.
> Crime rate in Mexico is not so much so good
But they don't bring it with them when they come to America. It's the because the Mexican government is corrupt (or at least more corrupt than ours).

That's why they want to come to America. So we should help them by putting in $7.25 an hour minimum wage.

Fact checking Syntax here: https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/white-house/fact-check-no-evidence-undocumented-immigrants-commit-more-crimes-n777856

Undocumented immigrants commit LESS crime than American citizens.

@812,875 (Meta)
the crime rate is the cause of the corruption rather than the other way round
the cause of the crime rate is the money of millions of ordinary US citizens willing to pay for their goods
