Topic: TIL to love companies

Anonymous A started this discussion 4 months ago #64,643

Love them like my children. Love them, cherish them, embrace them. Without companies shovelling their shitty products down your throat 24/7, life would be unimaginably cruel. It's so selfish to think that people could maybe do without having propaganda broadcast to them in their every waking second. The best thing to do is to watch adverts constantly, so those poor hard-done-by companies can get their products or message out to consumers. Because that's all people are. Consumers. Unthinking lumps of flesh that need companies to tell them what to do, what to wear, what to eat and what to think.

There is an opportunity: start a business that takes your money, buys stuff for you, and discards it immediately, freeing you from the burden of using it and chucking it yourself.

nope. the largest block of employeers in the US are small mom and pop businesses. think nail and hair salons and auto repair shops.

what's your point? they are still the largest block of employers by a long shot. sure, they aren't required to observe all OSHA safety regulations or provide health insurance but they account for a majority of income of a majority of americans. they also tend to pay better than minimum wage as sell since they typically aren't hiring completely unskilled employees like a walmart or some other large employer. they also tend to do on the job training and create valuable employees rather than expendable ones.

unless you're an executive or part of the corporate management then you're a 2-bit worker with no skills and probably won't learn much outside of customer service type skills. and you won't get healthcare either since they aren't required to provide insurance to part time sales associates. but, they'll be required to display OSHA signs and make you watch safety videos.

Immediate and total dependancy on wages is a societal evil. But that's besides the point of this topic, which is fuck advertisements and fuck companies that use them.

huh? you're immediately and totally dependent on food. you're dependent on shelter. money and working for money is just a way to exchange work for food and shelter.

you could abandon society and rely on hunting and gathering, but you're still working daily. in fact you'd be working harder. it's not like we could eliminate work and wages and immediately be better off, most people would just starve and die.

working for wages isn't an evil of modern society, it is a feature, a fundamental underpinning that makes it so food and shelter and all your wants and needs are easier to aquire.

wages aren't evil, they take the place of starving and dying of exposure.

jesus. get a fucking job.

Yeah that's what I'm saying. In other words, people have no choice but to work in order to merely survive, and the rich continue to get richer from that work. What kind of society is that?

I have a job.

one where you can also work and get rich too? one where people have a surplus of food and even our retarded aren't culled by darwin? a very easy existence compared to the short and brutal lives of our ancestors?

i like my air conditioned capitalist cities, thanks.

and you do have a choice, like i said, go off grid and go be a hunter gatherer. it's nature that makes it so you have no choice but to perform work to survive, not "corporations" or even capitalism - those things just make surviving easier and more comfortable than digging in the dirt for roots and grubs.

but you do have a choice as to whether or not you want to work for money or work for your food. up to you really.

You can't see outside the limitations of your own experiences. That's ok, although you should at least recognize that the entire system requires the majority to stay poor so a minority can be rich.

okay, well, until we reach technological singularity and machines do all our labor and everything is free i'll be over here with the rest of the work force earning a wage and living the easy life of a capitalist. you can go join the other crusty granola hippies on their farming commune and die from some easily curable disease. not the choice i would make, but then again i don't take literally everything in the world for granted.

pretty cheap cop-out to not explain what it is you think i'm not understanding. try clarifying your point rather than claiming to be misunderstood, it would feel less like a rhetorical trick meant to discredit me as too dumb to get what you're saying. that's a bullshit trick and i'm not falling for it so i'm calling your bluff. help me see your point, specifically the part you seem to think i don't really understand.
