Topic: I've heard that some posters here have been to China; I have a question?

Is it worth it to go to china? I have a pretty decent shot of going to a VERY good school's overseas program to china for the summer of 2018. How is it over there in Beijing? I'm cool with the Chinese dudes on campus and have a great rapport, but I'm not a fan of Chinese women. Will it be an issue since like every other white dude who goes to china is either a pedo, mercantile mercenary, western failure or trying to find a wifey?

It is great. Thanks. And, unlike Thailand, TG, there are not many underage ladyboys for sale.

Is it true Thailand banned single adult men because of underage sex tourism?

Are you overweight at all? One side benefit of going to Beijing is the high risk of getting Tuberculous. Rapid weight loss if that is what you want.

Beware of the food over there. Best to pack up a supply of Panda Chinese take out and pack in dry ice. In China they even make rice out of plastic.

I fail to C how anyone can C anything in Beijing - Remember they shut down all industry for the Olympics. Looked up smog in Beijing and this pic is typical of a very nice day.

You make an excellent point. I barely can stand vape shops and Beijing looks like one outdoor vape-shop. Seriously though, 15 minutes of googling convinced me not to go to China. Apparently, they have a huge hep-c infection rate. I can see why the Chinese foreign students seem way happier in the States. You got to be one fucked up individual to go to China other than for an increase in income or for executive business moves. This was one of the stupidest ideas I ever even conjured up.

China is desperate for people who speak English. About 35% of the English teachers there do not even have an AA degree. Web is full of stories of people who failed in school so they go to China for work and cost of living is dirt cheap there. It is also famous for alcoholics looking for dirt cheap booze.

The Chinese government requires a BA and usually an MA (for universities) to teach in China, as well as a TESOL certification, and 2 years or more of experience. Foreign teachers who do not meet these requirements are fined and deported. You might want to get your facts from actual sources, rather than "forums".

Have been to various areas of China on business multiple times.

One does not have to visit a sewage plant to gain knowledge via the web of the horrid conditions of such facility. There are also excellent expat web sites where Americans and Canadians and Brits discuss the horrid living conditions and the food in China. China is not the only hell hole on Planet Earth.

I could but will not waste my time posting links on surveys of Teachers and how easy they find employment without all those credentials. Noticeably even with all the credentials the expat forums discuss the horrid wages and the need to work multiple jobs just to make a living there.

Just look at wot 15 minutes on web did for OP

Its like I do not need to drive the wrong way on a Freeway to discover the horrid that wood happen.

And as to deportations - Those with all the certs also end up in fail to get work to keep their work visa and its not renewed and off they go back to where they came from

But honestly who the hell needs TB or as Introman found HepC
