Topic: How did CNN get to the point where they are fake news?

Anonymous A started this discussion 4 months ago #58,707

I thought they were supposed to be the non-partisan network to MSNBC's liberalism and Fox News' conservatism. How are they becoming known as the fake news website like The Onion?

They got into bed with the Clintons believing she would be potus by a land slide and that was something the American public wanted. CNN believed they would be untouchable as a result. We'll anyway, turns out Hillary lost and CNN is getting called out on their shit.

They are not fake news. Just because the Orange Cheeto makes angry, drunken Twitter rants in the middle of the night, does not make it so.

So you have solid evidence of Trump and the hookers in Russia?

The FBI and CIA do.

But wasn't this almost every news source?

I cannot believe how gullible and simple-minded Trump supporters are. CNN has a long history of being not only a valid news source, but a strong, reliable one. Then Trump the orange goblin says, "They are fake news!", and his sheeple start repeating in a droning, brainless voice, "They are fake news!" It's like fucking Animal Farm.

And have you seen this evidence or are you assuming it's true?

They didn't even leak the document. They wrote a news story saying they had obtained an unverified document whose authenticity they could not independently verify. Many other news organizations received the same document and did not leak it. Then buzzfeed got hold of it and they released it, which is why you heard about it. CNN didn't even do the thing Trump is accusing them of doing, which by the way, isn't fake news anyway, but since he's a fucking simpleton he didn't even get THAT right.

because they aren't?
http://www.businessinsider.com/shep-smith-defends-cnn-russia-report-2017-1
"Though we at FOX News cannot confirm CNN's report," Smith continued, "it is our observation that its correspondents followed journalistic standards and that neither they nor any other journalists should be subjected to belittling and delegitimizing by the president-elect of the United States."

For its part, CNN defended its own coverage in a statement on Thursday, distancing itself from BuzzFeed.

"CNN's decision to publish carefully sourced reporting about the operations of our government is vastly different than BuzzFeed's decision to publish unsubstantiated memos," said a statement from the network. "The Trump team knows this. They are using BuzzFeed's decision to deflect from CNN's reporting, which has been matched by the other major news organizations."
Just because donald trump sputters something that doesn't make it true. in fact, it probably makes it even less so.

CNN used buzzfeed as their source. That's how dumb they are.

the source is the memos though... not buzz feed they just leaked it first. technically you could say CNN is using the memos handed from John McCain to the FBI as their source and be more correct, tbh.

They're a for-profit corporation. Their product is not "news" but eyeballs to sell to advertisers. The goal is just to get as many people as possible watching prescription drug and SUV commercials. In this environment truth is obviously of secondary importance.

How factual are joke comedy shows like The Daily Show with Trevor Noah?

Sheila LaBoof joined in and replied with this 4 months ago, 22 minutes later, 2 hours after the original post[^] [v] #750,338

CNN wasted the major talent of Larry King on god damn OJ Simpon programs for the entire 1990s
then they came out with a miniseries called: A Line in the Sand. It was about some kind of US involvement in Iraq if you remember that
You see, they give news a title complete with graphics and a soundtrack
regardless, OP is horseshitting around for keks

Once something's out there, it's out and a journalist should never have to feel compelled to keep quiet on a scoop like that, obviously everyone believed it was credible enough to be true.

I mean CNN just were the quickest on the mark, it means good journalism. Go CNN!
